TCU/IAM Commends Amtrak Board, USDOT & FRA for Recognizing Frontline Employees with Year-End Bonus

The Transportation Communications Union commends the Amtrak Board of Directors, USDOT Secretary Duffy, and FRA Administrator Fink for their decision to direct end-of-year bonus money to frontline employees. This action recognizes the unwavering dedication of the frontline employees who serve as the backbone of our national passenger rail system.

TCU National Secretary-Treasurer and Vice President representing Amtrak members, Greg Kocialski, stated, “Our members consistently demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and an exceptional commitment to the traveling public. This bonus is a meaningful acknowledgment of their hard work and the critical role they play in Amtrak’s continued success. We appreciate the Board’s actions – encouraged by this Administration – in affirming the value of these employees and look forward to continued collaboration on behalf of the workforce that keeps America moving.”

The bonus for frontline employees comes as Amtrak has delivered a year of records for the service. Last month, Amtrak reported:

  • FY25 ridership reached 34.5 million customer trips, a 5.1% increase over FY24 and an all time record
  • $2.7B in adjusted ticket revenue, a first in Amtrak’s history and 10.4% higher year-over-year
  • $3.9B in total operating revenue, a 9.1% increase over FY24.
  • Surpassed systemwide customer service goals, with historical bests in Wi-Fi, food and beverage, train status communications, and station signage

The Transportation Communications Union and our members at Amtrak will continue to deliver world-class service and is looking forward to continuing work with Amtrak, the FRA and the Trump Administration to grow and expand Amtrak.
