National President
Matt is a second-generation railroader who began his railroad career in 2004 as a yard clerk for CSX- Boyles Yard in Birmingham, Alabama. He initiated into TCU Local Lodge 691 and became Local Chairman of Lodge 1295 in 2008.
He was assigned to the position of Assistant National Representative of Unit 96 by TCU/IAM President Emeritus Robert Scardelletti in August of 2010 and later became National Representative of Unit 96 primarily servicing members on CSX, CSX Intermodal and Norfolk Southern.
In 2016 Matt was elected to the TCU/IAM Executive Council as National Vice President and was re-elected to that position in 2018 and 2022. Matt worked as Special Assistant to the President of TCU/IAM and provided general oversight of all negotiations and representation until December of 2025 when the TCU Executive Council unanimously elected him to the Position of National President.
Brother Hollis is a dedicated union representative and experienced negotiator who is often selected by his peers to serve in leadership roles on various bargaining coalitions. In addition to National President of TCU, he is also the President of the Service Trades Council Union which is a coalition of six unions representing over 43,000 workers at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. He is also the Co-Chair for the North American Global Railway Steering Committee for the International Transport Federation.
Matt considers his twenty-year marriage to his wife and their three beautiful daughters as his greatest accomplishments.
