Statement from TCU/IAM National President Artie Maratea regarding the Federal Court’s decision last night:
“We’re relieved that our students will continue to have home. We’ve made a commitment to these kids to give them a way forward, and we intend to honor our commitment.
And while we’re pleased the court understands that these kids need to be held harmless, we recognize that we need the Department of Labor (DOL) and President Trump to support these trade schools if they are to have a future.
We’ve engaged both the White House and DOL on our willingness to discuss reforms to these programs, and will continue to do so – whatever it takes to keep these kids’ futures alive.
President Trump’s goal of seeking educational pipelines outside of traditional four-year institutions is in line with what we offer at TCU’s Advanced Training program – and labor union Job Corps programs broadly. We will continue to engage the Administration to meet their goals.”
