On December 23, TCU’s Women’s Committee founder and National Representative, Katrina Coleman, delivered Christmas presents to the Wilson family in Baltimore, MD, supporting four children ages 4 to 14. This visit marked the third annual Adopt-A-Family effort organized by TCU FIERCE, with generous support from local TCU lodges in the surrounding area.

Coleman was joined by Arika Davenport, a member of FIERCE and TCU Local Lodge 570, and CEO of Impactful Change, a Baltimore-based organization providing restorative, life-changing residential treatment for men and women recovering from addiction.

Additionally, prior to the holidays, TCU FIERCE members across the country extended their outreach to communities in need. In the Greater Los Angeles area, FIERCE members and Assistant National Representatives Melody Wooten-Strich and Esmeralda Montelongo led a Christmas present drive benefiting individuals and families escaping domestic abuse and homelessness through the Greater Los Angeles area House of Ruth. The drive ensured that families facing some of life’s most difficult transitions were met with essentials, some holiday joy, and dignity.

TCU FIERCE, the Union’s Women’s Committee, was established in 2022 with a mission to empower women in local leadership and has since evolved to strengthen TCU’s role as a force for good in the communities where our members live and work. From leadership development to direct community support, FIERCE reflects a long-standing labor tradition that unions are not just about contracts and negotiations, but about people.

Solidarity does not stop at the workplace. Efforts like Adopt-A-Family and community donation drives demonstrate how collective action, compassion, and shared responsibility can create real,

human impact well beyond the rails, yards, and offices our members serve every day.

TCU FIERCE extends its gratitude to everyone who contributed time, resources, and heart to make this year’s efforts possible. Together, we continue to prove that union strength is measured not only by what we win for our members, but by how we give back to our communities.
