Congress tells New Jersey Transit to settle

Yesterday, nine members of the New Jersey Congressional delegation wrote to New Jersey Transit urging them to settle the long-standing contract battle with the large rail labor coalition, which includes TCU. Even though the labor coalition has made major concessions in its negotiations, and two independant federal panels have said that labor’s offer is the fairest compromise, the NJT management refuses to budge.

The bipartisan letter was led by Rep. Bill Pascrell (NJ-9) and Rep. Frank LoBiondo (NJ-2). They were joined by several of their colleagues, including Reps. Donald Norcross (NJ-1), Tom MacArthur (NJ-3), Chris Smith (NJ-4), Frank Pallone (NJ-6), Albio Sires (NJ-8), Donald Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) and Bonnie Watson-Coleman (NJ-12).
