Democrats Question Chairman Mica on FAA Authorization Bill

Senate leaders questioned the House Republicans’ answer to a transportation infrastructure package, that Senate Democrats unveiled last week as the second piece of President Obama’s jobs-creation package. In a letter sent to House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-FL), Senator Boxer (D-CA) questioned the differences in the funding numbers that he proposes.

This funding is critical transportation funding that could affect thousands of jobs in the transportation industry including Amtrak, commuter railroads and transit systems.

Mica said that if an FAA reauthorization could be completed, he would try to move immediately to a six-year surface transportation bill with a price tag of about $285 billion.
