RCPL Is Now MNPL

RCPL Is Now MNPL

With TCU’s affiliation with the Machinists, our political action committee, the Responsible Citizens’ Political League, has been merged into the IAM’s Machinists Non-Partisan Political League–MNPL.

The purpose of the MNPL is the same as RCPL.  Through it the voluntary contributions of our members are channeled to support political candidates who will take our interests to heart.  Democrat or Republican, it doesn’t matter; wht matters is that the candidate will back TCU members on issues important to our jobs and our retirement.

TCU cannot afford to sit on the sidelines; our employers are already in the game.  This past year the railroad industry–through the Association of American Railroads–spent over $6 million lobbying Congress.  The Union Pacific Railroad alone spent $4 million.  And what are they lobbying for? To abolish FELA, to weaken oversight of safety requirements, for tax breaks for themselves, just to name a few.

How do we fight back? How do we make our voices heard?  We flood Congress with messages, as we did in the historically successful Railroad Retirement reform campaign of 2001.  We vote in every election–federal, state and local.  And we support our PAC — by giving generously to MNPL!

Under federal law, no dues money can be used for contributions to those seeking of holding political office.  That’s why it is necessary to have the MNPL, which can only be funded by voluntary contributions from concerned members.
We urge you to click here to make a contribution to MNPL today.
