October 17, 2025 – In accordance with the Railway Labor Act, Presidential Emergency Board No. 253 issued its report and recommendations late this afternoon. We are continuing to comb through all of the specifics contained in the extensive report. However, after a brief review, we are confident the voices of our members were heard. PEB 253 provided recommendations that deserve serious consideration. We look forward to using these recommendations to help us reach a voluntary agreement.
TCU is bargaining as part of a coalition of five unions representing a majority of workers on Long Island Railroad. The coalition issued the attached statement regarding PEB 253.
“TCU will continue to do whatever it takes to ensure our members receive a fair contract. PEB 253 doesn’t address every concern we raised, but it is obvious they saw through the endless games the LIRR has been playing. One thing is clear: it is time to put the schisms aside and come to the table and negotiate a fair agreement,” said Artie Maratea, TCU National President.
