Retired TCU/IAM National Vice President and Special Assistant to the President, Joel Parker, recently announced his retirement from the National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust (NRRIT). NRRIT was established as part of the Railroad Retirement and Survivors Improvement Act of 2001, which allowed Railroad Employees to retire at age sixty (60) with thirty (30) years of service.

Brother Parker was highly influential in the passage of this legislation. He was unanimously endorsed by all of Rail Labor to serve as one of the three Labor Trustees NRRIT and has continued to serve in that capacity.

“I want to thank Joel for his continued dedicated and selfless service as an NRRIT Trustee.  His expertise has benefited all of Rail Labor and will continue to do so for decades to come.  TCU has always been proud of one of our own, making such great contributions to our Railroad Retirement, which is among the very best pensions in the entire country. We appreciate Joel’s work and wish him the very best in his retirement,” said TCU National President Artie Maratea.
