Spouse Audit Please Respond – Members Covered Under the Railroad Employees National Health and Welfare Plan

As of March 26, 2020 over 20,488 railroad members have NOT verified their marriage with Railroad Enrollment Services. Of those non-responders, 1,795 are TCU/IAM members.

Every employee with an existing spouse on record must comply with the spouse audit. Employees who fail to respond with the required proof of marriage by the deadline, Medical, Dental and Vision coverage will be suspended for their spouse. Cancellation of coverage will begin shortly after the March 31, 2020 deadline.

All members should know how important it is for all married participants with spouses on record to contact Railroad Enrollment Services and return the required documents.

Members should immediately contact the Railroad Enrollment Services’ toll-free help line at 1-800-753-2692 for assistance.

Please post and distribute this notice as widely as possible, and ensure that the issue is raised in every available venue (union meetings, newsletters, bulletin boards, etc.). Without a substantial and sudden improvement in employee responses to this audit, thousands of spouses will lose their insurance, at least until the required proof is submitted.
