TCU/IAM mourns the passing of Seafarers International Union (SIU) Emeritus President Michael Sacco. Mike was the longest-serving president in SIU history, having led the organization from 1988 until his retirement in February 2023 (a period spanning nearly 35 years). “Mike Sacco was larger than life. He was known and respected throughout the entire labor movement. We offer our deepest sympathy to his family and the entire SIU family,” said National President Artie Maratea.
TCU/IAM President Emeritus Bob Scardelletti said, “I served with Mike on the AFL executive Council from 1991 until my retirement. He was a legend in the Maritime industry and one of the nation’s greatest labor leaders.”
