TCU Lodge 6205 Family Day at North Carolina Transportation Museum

May 28, 2025 – Members of TCU Lodge 6205 and their families gathered at the North Carolina Transportation Museum for a day of celebration, camaraderie, and remembrance during a special Family Day event.

Members from the Charlotte Roadway Shop—representing eight different unions— were invited to join in the festivities. Attendees enjoyed scenic train rides, toured the museum’s exhibits, and explored static displays of Vietnam-era helicopters while hearing powerful stories from the pilots who flew them. A shared meal capped off a day that honored union solidarity and military service.

TCU Executive Council members and staff were also in attendance.

TCU Local Lodge 6205 Chairman Landon Bowen, who played a key role in organizing the event, expressed his excitement about the turnout and venue: “It’s Armed Forces Day, and it’s only fitting to highlight Vietnam Veterans and set up the static displays. The railroad has always been full of veterans—we’re proud to recognize both them and our union families. This event had a little bit of everything. With over 200 people attending, it’s been a great day!”

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, a longtime partner of TCU, generously sponsored the event. Carmen Division General President Don Grissom thanked them, saying, “A big shout out to Robert and John for sponsoring this event. If you have any questions, please call them.”

TCU National President Arthur Maratea praised the event, saying, “Thank you to everyone who came out. I always call our union a family — our members and employees are all one family. This was a wonderful event at a great place, and I’m glad I was able to get here to enjoy the day.”
