LOS ANGELES, CA – The Transportation Communications Union/IAM (TCU/IAM) held a powerful informational picket on December 5, 2025, at Los Angeles Union Station, calling on Alvand Transportation to return to the bargaining table and negotiate a fair contract for the workers who keep their operations running every day. TCU/IAM members, IAM Rail Division, and allies from across the labor movement gathered in solidarity, reaffirming their commitment to securing fair wages, fair treatment, and the respect Alvand workers deserve.

California State Senator Caroline Menjivar, who represents the 20th District, attended the rally and delivered strong remarks in support of Alvand workers. Senator Menjivar praised the workers’ courage and emphasized the importance of standing together to demand dignity on the job. She also insisted that CEO Victor Alvandi come back to the table and negotiate.

TCU/IAM Organizing Executive Director Sal Rodriguez highlighted the overwhelming solidarity displayed at the picket. “Seeing the support from the IAM Rail Division and so many of our TCU/IAM brothers and sisters today was incredible,” they said. “Their presence reminds these workers that they are not alone. The entire IAM family is standing with them until this contract fight is won.”

TCU/IAM National President Artie Maratea reaffirmed the union’s unwavering commitment to the workers. “We will not stop until the leadership at Alvand comes back to the table,” President Maratea said. “Our Alvand brothers and sisters deserve fair wages and a fair contract, nothing less. We will continue to stand strong, stand united, and stand together until justice is delivered.”

The informational picket at Los Angeles Union Station made one thing clear: TCU/IAM will not quit. Our union remains steadfast in its mission to bring Alvand back to the negotiating table and to secure a contract that recognizes the value, hard work, and dedication of every Alvand employee.
