On August 11, 2023, Congressman Sean Casten, Illinois 6th District, visited the Belt Railroad Shop in Chicago. Assistant National Representative Keith Schlamadinger had the opportunity to introduce the Congressman to some of our Carmen on duty in the shop. They discussed the Railway Safety Act, one-minute car inspections, lack of manpower, sick days, and the importance of thorough inspections given the climate of what happened with the derailment in Ohio. Congressman Casten committed his full support on all of these issues. The BRC appreciates Congressman Casten taking the time to visit our members and hear our concerns.
