TCU Carmen, Clerks Ratify Amtrak Agreement

TCU Carmen and Clerical members on Amtrak have ratified a new five year agreement covering wages, health and welfare, and rules.

The Carmen vote was 493 in favor, 431 against. The Carmen vote reflects all Carmen members of the Joint Council of Carmen, which is comprised of TCU and the Transport Workers Union (TWU).

The Clerical vote was 983 in favor, 407 against.

The contract provides 15% in general wage increases, beginning with a 1.5% increase this July 1. It also caps future health care contributions and freezes copays and deductibles.

“Unlike past rounds on Amtrak, which were marked by bitter, protracted bargaining, we are happy that our Carmen and Clerical members will begin receiving wage increases immediately, once again I say – This is the best contract in the country – Bar None!” TCU International President Bob Scardelletti
