Update from President Maratea on PEB 250 and National Agreement

TCU/IAM, Brotherhood of Railway Carmen and the Machinist from the IAM Rail Division met last week to begin the process for reaching a Tentative Agreement with the NCCC.

PEB 250 provided the framework for us to reach an agreement with record high wage increases without sacrificing any of the great benefits of our insurance plans. In fact, it recommended improving the existing benefit levels for two areas (hearing aid coverage and autism treatment) of the plan.

PEB 250 recommends the monthly cost of our insurance plan should increase to 15% of the plan cost. PEB 250 also provided a recommendation for annual lump sum payments for every year of the contract which will more than offset the moderate monthly cost increase. Stated differently, none of our members GWI’s would be offset by increased healthcare cost.

TCU/IAM is committed to ensuring that our members receive every penny of the benefits recommended in PEB 250 as well as making any improvements possible. Our members have waited long enough for a fair contract. Now, with these strong recommendations, our members can be assured TCU/IAM will reach an Agreement worthy of their support.

We will continue to work in the coming days to get this agreement done and will update our membership as soon as that is accomplished.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience.
